RE: CQ, CQ, CQ... calling all ham radio operators...
I need to get a 2m mobile antenna for my truck. I have the radio.

I've not even listened in over a year. got myself a nice HF rig last winter but I've not been able to talk anyone into running the feed line to my inverted V dipole. Then a friend of mine was on the roof doing something else and he thought he'd "help" by taking down the weird wire that was tangled onto the PVC mast. Yes, that was my antenna he took down. He was so proud of himself, I couldn't yell too much. I realized later he hadn't put it back up. /sigh

RE: CQ, CQ, CQ... calling all ham radio operators...
I first learned about Ham Radio from my next door neighbor (Calvin York W4EYO) back in the early 1940s. I earned my first class commercial radio operator's license back in 1947, but didn't get my first Ham license (Kn4DTO) until I got out of the army in 1952 (Korean war vet.). I let that license lapse, but got my current license (K5***) when I moved to Texas in 1956 and I still have that call sign.

This is epic funny.

Although I think the bands on it are wrong. It's been a while since I last had to figure it out, though! Surface mount has nearly taken over home brew.

My brother and Father took the course in early 80's. Two days before the test said that you could challange the exam so I went with them. Much to my brothers consternation, Dad 100% me 98% and he only had a 94%. We are all VE3XXX's. We come from a long line of operators, a great aunt who worked for Intreped, and a great uncle who was the the radio operator on the Titanic.

The colour code for 1 Ohm (5%) is Brown, black, gold, gold. I am not certain what colour the third band is in the picture?

Wow, not bad... what are there - about 10 hams total in all of Fiji?

QRZ lists 3D2AA as a silent key, unfortunately.
