Water in Aircurve

Water in Aircurve
Hi everyone,
I got an Aircurve 10 BiPap yesterday, filled up the humidifier to max and went to sleep. I woke up with the machine upside down. I am not sure if water got into the machine or not.  I removed the tank and turned the machine on its side no water came out and the tank was dry.  Not sure if the water evaporated or leaked out.  It seems to be working but I'm not sure if I if should be worried about damage or not??

Hello Spacedogb,

Welcome to Apnea Board!

You have escaped disaster it sounds like. Did you knock the machine off of night stand? Or just turn it over?

The good news is it still works and you probably will be fine. There's no bad news, so count your luck stars. Figure out a way to make sure your machine is safe. Those are expensive devices. My machine is on a night stand about 6 inches below the top of the bed. It sits just outside an arm length from where I sleep in the bed (have to make a small effort to touch it.) I use a hose hanger to suspend my hose so I don't get wrapped up in hose, and a command hook with velcro cable wrap to secure the hose to the wall near the machine. Accidents happen and every ounce of prevention helps.

RE: Water in Aircurve
Spacedog, I would suggest protecting your machine by putting it in a bedside drawer if possible. If not, suspending your hose from the wall or headboard can isolate the machine from any movement you make. The humidifier chamber is designed to prevent water from entering the blower unit. Turning the machine upside down is not good idea, but water is designed to run out of the machine rather than into the blower and electronics. It's not foolproof. Try to avoid this.

You can get a couple of sticky Velcro pads and run a bit of Velcro over the top of the machine onto the sticky pads to hold the machine in place.
Or put a pad under the machine and anther on the table top.  This is tidier and works well but put the hairy bit under the machine and the toothed bit on the table top.  Don't want the doctors to prick their fingers now do we?   Big Grin
The pads come off easily enough if you want to sell it.
