OSCAR Feature Request - Dark Mode

RE: OSCAR Feature Request - Dark Mode
That would be a Mac Terminal, I presume...

Mike

This did not work as written.  Did you get this to work on your Mac?  and it turned OSCAR to a dark mode configuration automatically just with that line of code into Terminal?  If so, would you be so kind as to double check how you wrote it, as I copied and pasted it directly into terminal and it says "command not found".  thanks

RE: OSCAR Feature Request - Dark Mode
First, make sure OSCAR is not running.

Then try the text below in the code block.  It should copy/paste into Terminal without the extra formatting:

Code:
defaults write org.oscar-team.OSCAR NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance -bool false

Then open OSCAR and the changes should take effect.

It does enable dark mode for parts of OSCAR (not the graph's), but there is a minor issue with the color of some of the text.  See screenshots below.

On the profile page I have 3 different profiles.  They are virtually invisible here:

On the Welcome tab the text is white on a light yellow background:

The Daily page didn't look bad:

If you decide you don't like the change you can revert back to the original.
Make sure OSCAR is not running then copy/paste the following code into Terminal:

Code:
defaults delete org.oscar-team.OSCAR NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance

NOTE: The original "NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance" setting is located inside the OSCAR.app bundle in the "Info.plist" and I don't recommend editing that.  Using "defaults write" places a copy of the setting into ~/Library/Preferences/org.oscar-team.OSCAR.plist which seems to override the bundle version without any issues.

Thanks brother!  This works.  Though as you mention, definitely not optimized like a true dark mode could be done by the developers, as some of the white text isn't legible on the 'Profile' and 'Welcome' tabs, and the charts are still in white on the 'Daily' tab, but its a step in the right direction and I'm going to keep it toggled on until (hopefully) dark mode gets added as a full feature.  I really appreciate the reply!

Also, for anyone else that reads this, you do have to copy and paste the exact text above that Jeff wrote into Terminal on the Mac, and then you have to quit OSCAR and relaunch the application for the changes to take effect.

Sorry, my mistake, I should have mentioned that.  Make sure OSCAR is not running when you make either of the above changes.  It won't harm anything but the changes won't take effect if OSCAR is open when you make them.  I have edited my post above to reflect that little omission...

All good, thanks again!  I'm watching YouTube videos on how to improve CPAP/APAP usage right now and here I am at 11pm looking at my OSCAR data on a big 4K monitor.  It's nice to have some extra darkness to the app tonight.  Would be great to have dark mode on this Apnea Board forum as well.
