Cataract Surgery May 7th!
I saw the second doctor today. They did many tests and dilated my eyes. I can't see well to post, so hope you can read this. This doctor and staff was very professional and nice, I told him my concerns and he assured me he has done ofter Adies pupils and he is confident ( unlike other doctor) he can do well by me. The risk of loosing my eye is very minimal and was not necessary to say or scare me. He does NOT typically say that to a patient and would not have in my case He he very nice and put my fears at ease and even explained why I can't always immediately recognize where I am when driving. Things look flat and my colors and perceptions are off. My type of cataracts are like little bubbles you see in an ice cube..blisters. The steroids from Lasik drops causes cataracts to grow faster. So I think I am in Gods' hands and his and I WILL not have to go blind ot be visually impaired, but hopefull see just fine and better than now just like thousands of other people. Maybe after it is all over end of May I will call the first place or send a letter telling them my bad experience with them and how good it turned out elsewhere. The first doc needs a course in how to communicate in a positive way to patients. He pit me thru grief unnecessarily! Yes, there is risk but I have to trust God on this. Carry me, carry me, carry me now, Lord. And he is! I know there is a GOD, a loving God who won't let me fall. People who do not? I do not know how they can live a day without him So, "Heres'lookin at you kid".

I've heard that, yes.

I'm agnostic. I have no faith in a god that may or may not the there - and if that god is present, I sense no presence personally.
That being said, it may be so. But I tend to put faith in the doctors, where possible.

You don't need any horror stories. So... my wife had cataract surgery around Christmas. Both eyes, about a week apart. She was terrified, but the declining vision also terrified her.

Her doctor diagnosed our daughter as farsighted before she was a year old, and at 10 months she began wearing tiny eyeglasses. People would so "oh that's cute!" but we didn't get them for her to be CUTE! We got them so she could see. But the fact the doctor picked that up so quickly when my daughter was so young - he earned my eternal respect. So when it came for my wife's cataract surgery and we had the same doctor, I couldn't ask for a better person to do it.
After the surgery she had a follow up appointment and wore an eye patch. We knew we were in the right place because everyone else in the waiting room had eye patches as well Big Grin But wearing it was only for a few days. She now marvels at all she can see and the only regret she has is all the time beforehand and everything she feels she missed. Getting the surgery done has made a world of difference to her. She got her sight BACK! I would like to think the same will happen for you. Best wishes.

RE: Cataract Surgery May 7th!
Ive had both eyes done a few years back , wife had hers done here in the last couple of months . After the cataract surgery it was surprising , I had always seen the trees but this time I saw the elm tree , the oak tree ...... and without the clunky glasses . colors are brighter .

I do need a set of dollar store readers but any thing past arms length I don't need any help .

I guess the change was so slow that I didn't notice until it was bad bad . When it finally dawned on me that something was wrong I panicked for a bit .

Funny part was during the last after surgery Checkup . The Doc set the machine up and did the " Which is better , Choice 1 or choice 2 ? " . After he was done he put up the eye chart , the one with all the letters . He then asked me the read the smallest print possible . .. I said " made in the USA " .

Below all the normal lines of letters I could see at the bottom of the chart in the smallest print possible Made In The USA

Schnauzers5,
I'm so happy for you that your 2nd opinion was positive and reassuring. May you have peace and sleep well until the surgery.

RE: Cataract Surgery May 7th!
Thank you all so much. I am seeing a 3rd doc cuz I can. Because the first (jerk that scared me half to death said I won't need it for a yr or up to two and 2nd said I need it now! I think I can't see well and do need it now. Later makes it harder and ripe isn't a word used anymore for when it is time. I am 2+ going on 3 and I know How I see to drive. Grooming is ok it is distance that is bad. Still freak out some but I just have to believe I am an alarmist and worry more than most people ever do. I am a more difficult case but he has done others and it was fine Yikes, May 7th is not far off. It will be hard to make money til surgery recovery and surgery recovery til both done and ok. Again, this is where God does provide

BTW the avatar was me a few Mays ago and I weigh less today actually. Look similar on a good day.

Deist here.
God exists to me, but works within the laws of science and physics & nature.
ie: if you run in front of a truck you WILL get SQUASHED. Simple? ok?
If you want to know how God works, read a book on science. (choose your field, they all work)
'Nuff said there.

The good things that happen to you in life are by your own hand. Give *yourself* the credit where it is due.

I'm glad you got through it all ok. Smile
(I figured you would since I have had several relatives go through it as well.)
The only thing that bothers us all is fear and we can fight that with our internal strength.
(That is the true gift from God to you.)

Here's wishing you a speedy recovery!

Although I am scheduled for pre-op the 23rd and surgery May7th I might go with doc #3 and I think he would be later as he is so scheduled out. But soon I am sure. I meet and exam w/3rd Monday then I will decide who and get it done asap. I believe HE, God, Jesus, leads me and I follow. I can do nothing without him. So lets' agree to disagree. Peace
