RE: Central sleep apnea
My experience with my ResMed ASV has been very similar to that of other users in this thread.
In the very initial stages, as I was about to transition from wakefulness to sleep, my breathing pattern often caused the device to aggressively pump air. This would often disrupt the sleep transition. As Dave and others have mentioned, the "blowback" method would tame the machine. Still, pretty disruptive. Other than that seeming flaw, the therapy and sleep quality from ASV is delicious. After a while using the ASV the aggressive response at the sleep transition faded away as an issue. I still don't know if the machine is learning to read us, or if we are being trained, or a little of both. But for me--and many reports from other ASV users--that struggle passes. It is the one criticism that I have of an otherwise brilliant machine. I love the device and it has really improved my sleep. I do wonder if the algorithm couldn't be improved and be made less aggressive at sleep transitions during the initial period of use? Bill |
