Hojo, Did you have CA's in your PSG (before using the device)?

I had 73 CA in my original PSG, and now with my APAP, I am averaging 20/night (Just 4 nights data though). I have almost no OA's and my 90% Pressure is only 8.

When I had my first sleep study I did not have any obstructive apnea, they were all central and even though it is pretty much well known that CPAP isn't for central apnea, it is required (generally) to try it for insurance purposes.

I started CPAP around August 18, they played with the pressures, which was also required, got punted to another (better) sleep doctor, had a BIPAP titration study and with all the central apnea events that I had, I failed it and so there was no reason to even try BIPAP...which is generally the procedure to satisfy insurance.  Now I'm scheduled for an ASV titration study next week, and even after I get it, I won't see the results for two weeks.

I am also on APAP, after CPAP and BiPAP.

My Sleep Specialist says that higher pressures can trigger CAs. You may just need time to adjust, or your machine may be set to too wide a range.

My personal experience is that my machine being set to roughly 2 below the 90/95 percent range to 2 above that seems to give good results.

You should definitely discuss this with your doctor, though as others have mentioned, they may ask for you to wait for things to stabilize.

Good luck!
