Choosing a nasal pillow mask
#1
Question
Choosing a nasal pillow mask
I'm ready to move from a FFM to a nasal pillow mask. I have narrowed my choice down to the Nuance Pro with a fabric headgear and the Swift FX. I would like to know the pros and cons of both, what you guys think of each and any experiences you may have had with them.

I also have some questions:

Do both have a swivel at the hose connection on the mask? While not having one won't necessarily be a deal breaker, it will weigh heavily in my decision.

Do either have a quick connect at the hose connection on the mask?

Can lanolin be used with both?

Your comments will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Pupcamper

RE: Choosing a nasal pillow mask
pupcamper,

I can only speak on the FX. It swivels at the hose connection not at the mask if I remember correctly. I have switched to the newer P10. The advantage being is the headgear is less intrusive, the mask is quieter and it also swivels at the hose connection. Not knowing any different, the swivel at the hose connection has always worked as designed.

The quick connect is @ the hoses, and yes you can use lanolin. Are you using it for sealing purposes? If not, I use Burt's bees, beeswax lip balm, but only if I happen to get a little soreness at my nostrils. It happens very rarely. I think for either reason, just make sure what you're using has no petroleum product in it.

I find as far as the quick connect, for me it is most useful in case I have to use the restroom. I separate the hoses rather than remove the headgear, turning the machine off for the few minutes I'm gone. It is easier to get started again rather than resetting the headgear and the hose gives you enough air intake while you take care of business.
