Compliance Period OVER!

Compliance Period OVER!
So I'm finally done; my compliance was 99% for the three months. I did miss a night when I was in the Emergency Room, but the others, even in the hospital for 3 days, I managed to be compliant. A bit over 8 hours per night for the 3 months, with an AHI around 2.47 for that period.

Got new supplies - was AMAZED how much my original WISP headband had stretched out - new one was tight at first, then way too loose a few hours into the night last night. More learning curve, but all is seeming to be good. And they are not coming to repo my machine Smile

Cleaning up all my old hoses and the old headgear and frame, and keeping them for spares. Even changed the cushion on the Nuance, which I've been using about once a week.

I really was afraid I'd never be able to tolerate CPAP - heck I can't sleep with my glasses on - figured this would be WAY too intrusive. But after the first week, I've really never looked back, and I look forward now to a great night's sleep.

Thank you all here on the board for your help and encouragement as I felt my way along. I'm a believer, now. Thanks

Dave

Great job!!!

It amazes me how some people (like my Dad) just won't use it. After the night in the sleep clinic on the CPAP I was hooked! I haven't gone a single night without it since July 14th.

Tongue Suck Technique for prevention of mouth breathing:
  • Place your tongue behind your front teeth on the roof of your mouth
  • let your tongue fill the space between the upper molars
  • gently suck to form a light vacuum

Practising during the day can help you to keep it at night

Congratulations!

Is three months the typical compliance period? I am approaching that now with 100% compliance. Heck, I won't even take a nap during the day without my breathing machine.

Yes, at least for USA insurance companies, compliance is usually 4 hours per night for 70% of the first 90 nights. Not a huge hurdle, but seems to be a consistent one.
