DME Visit
#1
Had a visit to my DME for a resupply. Apparently they didn't believe me when I told them I already had a P10. I didn't buy it through them so they said I had to come in "for a fitting" and bring my machine. So I go there and he tries to explain the P10 and I told him I have one. On to the next subject. He started showing me some things on Airview. I told him I use another program to look at my data. I was surprised when he asked, "Sleepyhead?" Dancing

We spent some time shooting the breeze about Sleepyhead Smile

I totally forgot to ask him if he visits this forum or not. I'll try to remember next time I'm there. Some DME aren't all that evil. Dont-know

Using FlashAir W-03 SD card in machine. Access through wifi with FlashPAP or Sleep Master utilities.

I wanted to learn Binary so I enrolled in Binary 101. I seemed to have missed the first four courses. Big Grinnie

Good for you! Mine basically told me I was on my own when I chose not to buy my machine through them and instead ordered it from a supplier. I'm glad though, otherwise I wouldn't have learned all I know now (and I have much more to learn) and still be totally in the dark regarding my therapy and equipment other than what they would chose to reveal to me. Plus, I also saved a ton of money, about $500 so far.

My original DME brought my machine to my house, showed me how to plug it in and basically how to fill the humidifier. Beyond that I was on my own. I see my sleep doctor once a year and he is no help either. Thank goodness for the kind folks on this forum who have patience to answer questions that other members have.

Same here, except my DME didn't come to my house. I picked up my machine, and they set it to
4-20, and told me to put water in humidifier, and plug unit in wall. Sad

They still, after 2 years, are of little use to me.

Thank God for this forum!

My DME (REMworks) is one of the winners. They mostly took the role of negotiating with insurance to get coverage for my equipment. When all was approved, I went in to pick it up, and the RT went through the features, and had already set it up according to the prescription I gave to my doctor. They repackage the P10 mask and include 2-large cushions rather than the fit kit with all three sizes. That works fine for me. Supplies are a call away, and can be delivered to my home, or picked up at the store. I often go to pick them up since they are next door to my favorite brew pub. Smile

The primary objective for most DMEs is to sell equipment to people that know very little except how to sign an insurance form. I could say a lot more, but the first statement just about covers it.

It varies as to who is present at the time. Some of the PTs haven't a clue (one didn't know what a manometer was). Others are very knowledgeable and accept that I KNOW what I want, I just want to know how to get what I want.

It took me 6 visits to my equivalent of your DME before I was eventually given a heated hose, which made the setup workable for me.
Prior to this I had nearly taken him by the throat saying "there is something wrong, this treatment is not working".

Now, I accept the therapy is a waste of space, but look upon it as the price I pay to get back on the road.

Oh, and a formal complaint to the management who suggested that as I was clearly unhappy |I might like to take my trade elsewhere.

This was until I pointed out the following section of their website.

Socialised health care, totally funded by the government who of course extract the money from the taxpayer.
