Daily sleep report on Aircurve ASV

RE: Daily sleep report on Aircurve ASV
Yes, my AHI has never been greater than 5 since starting ASV and is usually less than 3. I'm happy when it is less than 1; when it is over 2, I try to figure out what the problem is. I certainly don't expect to get 0 consistently. Thank you for your reassurance.

Thanks

When you see clusters of UA like this, it is likely positional, and the solution may be a soft cervical collar. If you look at the soft collar wiki linked in my signature you can see other ASV users have experienced positional apnea that no pressure can break. Your close-up shot confirmed what appeared to be obstructive apnea with airway resistance. The ASV is attempting to provide breaths through the sequence, but is met with a block.

Having looked at the chart again, I agree with the positional apnea events and the research into it Sleeprider mentions. Changes in settings will not help in this case.

Thank you - I'll give the collar a try to see if it helps.

Another thought - could this be the increased apnea associated with REM sleep, which tends to occur early in the morning prior to awakening?

I'd consider it possible. The sleep stage may include positional changes and cause this event cluster.

I was going to say the same the events look positional in nature and a soft cervical collar may help. Normally an ASV can provide sufficient breathing support to prevent REM based apnoea but not obstruction caused by position as no extra pressure will help
