How much should I care about data collection? I have not been to a sleep doctor in at least four years. I don't look at data from my current machine (don't even know how to). So should I be looking at what you call "bricks?"
If .your machine is the System One or Dreamstation series, then data is stored on the SD card, and you can easily read it using #Sleepyhead software, which is free. If you have the older M Series, you need a new machine very quickly as that unit is about 10 years old and past due to fail. Data, combined with the Auto CPAP can enable you to optimize your own therapy, and avoid the need for a new sleep study. Considering, the machines I suggested earlier cost about $581 shipped, try not to overthink this. You either need to contact your in-network DME supplier, and navigate the insurance requirements, or go get a new machine sooner than later. An auto CPAP is the best choice to provide your current therapy needs without taking a new sleep test, that will easily cost $2000, plus the cost of a new machine. Your out of pocket, depends on your deductible and copay terms. In other words, it might be less expensive to simply order online.
