Dent on top of my head from strap
#11
RE: Dent on top of my head from strap
I also have a dent on my head. It looks like someone took a tourniquet to it and it takes at least for hours to disappear. I only have the head band as tight as it needs to be.
I have used Supplier #31 products and they did not work.

So I took a felt boot insole that is about a 1/4 inch thick, cut it to about 1 3/8 inch wide and as long as I could make it. I cut 2 slits for the headband. I works great because the felt is fairly firm but flexible and it distributes the pressure over a larger area. No more dent. I don't have to wake up every morning like I had brain surgery.

I've had the same thing happen. I could've written your post almost word for word.

I was mortified when I noticed it. I went to a Dr who smiled, shrugged, and said it's normal aging, especially for yo-yo dieters.

One day it dawned in me it was probably the mask strap and the part of hard plastic that sits on the forehead.

The only web info I found is from forums like these. (Although, I didn't search long.) Nothing from the medical community. There are many things they simply don't know yet.

(I did find an article from 2010 about a study done that showed the jaw may change. Great!)

There's one other thing that mortified me even more.

My upper lip has dropped lower than it used to sit. I think it's from years of wearing the nose covering. It pushes down the area between nose and lip.

I appreciate your post. These posts are helpful to cpap users. I wish we could shout these warnings to new users.

I hope someday soon, doctors or the companies that make the masks will warn new mask users.
