Do NOT accept a brick! If they try to give you a brick, refuse it and ask for one of the recommended machines. Sorry if I over-reacted, but hoping and thinking is great - but more important is making sure that you get what you need.
Don't worry - I understand your concern. After seeing what my father did to himself by NOT treating his sleep apnea I understand your wanting to see people treated properly.
Given what she said about my hubby's old machine - "the brick" - I am not worried. Her basic attitude was that it was useful but just barely and better than nothing.
Even though I am currently using "the brick" until my own arrives. The sleep specialist ordered the Philips Respironics REMstar Auto A-Flex System One Pro for my hubby. I strongly suspect that is what has been ordered for me. If NOT; I will squawk; Long and Loud!
Diagnosed: 44 AHI when supine, O2 down to 82%
Treated since 20 Sept 2014:: 0.7 AHI, Settings 7-15, EPR on Full Time at Level 3
Better living through CPAP/APAP machines!
