That's crazy - you can get a non-invasive (e.g. no nasal cannula) home study for $150, and it'll give enough info for a doctor to say Yep, you've got OSA, and get started on a treatment plan. You don't need a full on-site study to get started.

You don't need a full on-site study to get started. I agree, but the only way to get a prescription for the settings to my DME is from a sleep study. I had a sleep study in 2015 that determined I had OSA and got me an AirSense 10 and P10, BUT to get the DME to recognize new settings for my new AirSense 11 it has to come from my HMO/PCP which has to come from a sleep study. The whole process guarantees revenue for all parties (HMO/DME), but little regard for the actual patient.
