RE: Dizziness
Like Utah, I have also suffered from BPPV.  
There's a simple home "test" to determine BPPV called a Dix-Hallpike test.
Move bed pillow out of the way.
Sit on bed, then lay down on one side (ear down) and allow head to rest on bed.
Wait for 30 seconds or so. 
If the room starts spinning,  you may have BPPV in the ear that is facing upward.
Sit up, wait for a minute to settle then repeat test for the other ear.

It might not be BPPV at all of course, but that test is what a GP or ENT would use to check for it.
(they also verify that your eyes are moving in oval orbits when you feel dizzy)
