Being overly cautious maybe, in regards to using detergents?

I'm an outlier here, but I use Seventh Generation (unscented) because I hated the smell of Dawn in my mask. Works well.

The link you provided by ResMed also said this about ozone cleaning products:
"Can I use an ozone device with my ResMed machine? ResMed has observed that prolonged and repeated use of an ozone device may eventually cause internal damage to a ResMed machine, leading to an increase in motor noise. The ResMed limited warranty excludes damage to ResMed machines caused by use of ozone devices." I'll just be using Dawn or equivalent and warm water. ResMed has not yet said Dawn damage excluded by the warranty.

RE: Do you use dish detergeant for cleaning
I just read that no hypopneanow. I fill up a sink to soak my equipment, if I was to use 1 part vinegar and 1 part water I would have to use a gallon of vinegar every time I cleaned everything. I get a new cushion every month and a new mask every 3 months. If in the very unlikely chance the silicone get damaged by Dawn (I highly doubt it) then I’ll just grab one of my many spares. I always wipe my mask with a wipe before I put in on anyway just to get any possible dust particles off so any residue that may be present is getting wiped away anyway. Same goes for my humidifier tube that I leave open to dry. I would say go ahead and use it. IMO I’d rather do that than try and rinse vinegar out of my head gear. Imagine smelling that all night

I do not put the actual machine into ozone or an ozone tub. Only the equipment associated with it, that is, the humidifier pot (broken down), the air tube, the mask and even my cleaning equipment. See the topic of Ozone at Commercial Posts : http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-Ozone-Machine for more. A lot of people do not want anything to do with ozone --- I understand that. You have to use it properly. That's why you use a SEALED tub. My device runs 25 minutes and then I wait two hours for the ozone (O3) to revert back to oxygen (O2). There is a fresh clean smell when done, but this not the ozone. I have had problems with sinus and respiratory infections in the past and ozone has proven to be a tremendous help.

I do, though, have a surge suppressor for my machine. Also, I have a device that holds the power off for 4 minutes when the power goes off. Have you ever had this in a storm where the power goes on and off a number of times before going totally out? I think this device cost about ten to fifteen bucks.

It keeps the UV rays off and slows down the cushion yellowing process. No different than the plastic headlight lens on cars, between ones left in a garage and ones left in the sun. John

That's fine if you choose to use an ozone device in a separate tub. My choice is not to use ozone in any manner. As I recall, ozone can't actually sterilize or clean. It can't sterilize partly because the room air isn't sterile itself. And I'm not turning my bedroom into a laboratory. I don't think ozone cleans, sanitizes or sterilizes in a typical home atmosphere.
For me, there's too many questionable attributes, potentially harming myself and my CPAP equipment by using ozone products. Those questions don't exist when I just use soap and water.

I don't think ozone cleans, sanitizes or sterilizes in a typical home atmosphere. I understand that you don't want to use ozone. I would never tell anyone they have to. However, ozone does sterilize. A simple search in Google "does ozone clean" or "does ozone sterilize" yields a lot of information on this topic. Hospitals use it for cleaning laundry. On WJR, 760 AM Detroit, a number of years ago a doctor was interviewed by Frank Beckmann about the Ebola virus epidemic in Africa. As I remember, the doctor had been in Nigeria. He was using some method using ozone to kill the virus. Everyone he treated survived. BUT, he was shut down. The reason was the pharmaceuticals ran him out of the country. Ozone is CHEAP and you can't sell drugs for Ebola with a cheap cure. I heard this with my own two ears. This is not a story of a story of a story. |
