RE: Dr. switched from variable to one pressure
I would get the resmed 10, seing it's a loaner and you haven't bought one yet. General view is it's a better machine.

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

Interesting.  The Dreamstation Pro has a feature that allows for auto-CPAP titration for up to 30 days called Auto IQ.  It then shuts off and automatically selects the optimum CPAP fixed pressure, usually at your 90th percentile pressure (not your average).  You can still control your machine, and the features are described fully in the clinical manual that you can get from the forum. http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-pr...tup-manual

Your machine is a fixed pressure CPAP, but you have doing the Auto Trial mode.  It can be reactivated, but it does time-out.  If you download and install SleepyHead, you can see the results of your Auto Trial, and compare that to current CPAP therapy.  If you post that information, we will be glad to help you optimize results with the machine you have.

RE: Dr. switched from variable to one pressure
The opinion of my specialist seems to be that lower average AHI numbers can be maintained with fixed pressure.

My personal experience is there is a slightly better average on fixed than variable, but not conclusive enough to worry me either way.

I have actually increased the pressure setting on my machine ( without consulting my specialist ) to overcome the feeling that I was sometimes starving for air when I first started up.. usually only after I had been doing strenuous activities just before going to bed, "bin night" rushing to make sure the bins were out was when I noticed it the most.

The increase also helps with the chronic clogged nose I get of an evening as well.
