Dramatic Increase in Pressure?

Dramatic Increase in Pressure?
Hey guys,

Just started a new Dreamstation Go with Auto. The last two years I've used a fixed CPAP set at 9.0cm.

I find it awkward and somewhat difficult to breathe on this new machine—though it's only been 3 nights—especially during the exhale. Even with flex options enabled the mask seems to pull away from my face with every exhale (without breaking seal), then settle back into place. I woke up last night to the mask physically vibrating on my face every time I breathed out. I'm using the same full face mask that presents no problems on my other machine. Odd considering this machine is 4x the price of my other one (Apex XT Fit).

My main question though is about my pressure ratings. The past two nights pressure has risen dramatically in the middle of the night. Any thoughts as to what's going on?

Your machine is responding to both snores and flow limitations.

On the Dreamstations snore detection is disabled above 16cm. If you look at your chart you'll see the pressure stops climbing after passing 16cm and levels off a 17cm. That proves that the machine is reacting to snores detected. But even at 17cm your still getting events. I don't think you were getting treated when you were on a fixed pressure of 9cm.

As Walla Walla stated, your machine is responding to snores.  Look at your pressure and snore graphs, you can see when the pressure started to rise.

One problem is your minimum pressure of 6cm is too low.  You may do a bit better if you moved it closer to the 95% number, or about 2cm below. This will help with the snores and be closer to the pressure you need.

Great suggestion in upping my minimum pressure.

Why do you think it's difficult to exhale on one machine but easy (more even) on the other?

Even when I switch the DSG to CPAP mode at 9.0 it's still difficult to breathe out.

If I had to guess I would say your old machine wasn't putting out 9cm of pressure like it was suppose to.
