DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask users

RE: DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask users
I love my DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask. Finally I'm able to sleep like a baby with a tight seal and no leaks. I know that masks, nasal masks and pillows are items that are individual. I'm just so happy that I can finally sleep.  ResMed P-10 nasal pillows hurt my nostrils, I had hoped that the new Brevida would work but I couldn't get a good seal on it. Thank the heavens for the DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask. It's perfect and I'm so happy now. I've been a CPAP user for over a year trying to find a good nasal pillow/nasal mask.

Myearthhaven, I use a soft foam cervical neck collar instead of a chin strap and it works better for me. However I just couldn't get the right adjustments on the Dreamwear--it would still leak--the cervical collar solved my mouth breathing. I just started using the new Dreamwear gel pillows and they do stay in place better. I'm having a bit of a hard time adjusting to having something in my nose, but think I am finally getting used to it (I had a 0.00 AHI two nights ago). There is a least one thread here on the forum about this new pillow, or cushion--whatever.....

RE: DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask users
I went to my supplier today and got a refitting.  She saw the spot on my nose where it has been rubbing me raw and agreed that she had given me the wrong size. We talked about the open mouth coming open while I was sleeping. She agreed with me that the nose piece being small could cause extra resistance beyond just the air pressure when I tried to breathe out adding more to the likelihood of failing of keeping my mouth shut. My nostrils are wide enough that barely any of them were not covered by the silicone. The tip of my nose barely hits the medium line on the sizing guild, that was why she thought the small would work for me but my nose is just too wide for a small. She still say's the bulk of her female customers are very happy with the small size and she uses a small with her gear. I'm sure even if her nose was a long as mine she could still use a small with no problem, her nostrils are the tiniest I've ever seen. If they make a small wide in the future I may be a great candidate for that size. I spent a half hour in the fitting room flopping around in different positions to see if the medium would fit without leaks. Just like the small one the only spot that might get some leakage is around my nose ring. If it gets annoying or leaks too much I'll just go back to a stud instead of the hoop. As a sorry, she gave me a week worth of some skin barrier wipes to give the raw spot a chance to heal. I also picked up a chinstrap to help with training my mouth shut. I'm sure my husband will have a great joke about it when he sees me in it.

Thanks

Sidesleeper, how do the gel pillows fit are they different from other pillows. I tried the P10 pillow during my initial headgear fitting but my nostrils are two different sizes. I was either in pain with one nostril stretched out a little too much or in pain, because the size down that fit the smaller nostril pinched the middle of my nose far too much. I have fibromyalgia so a little pain can become unbearable in a short amount of time if the stimulus is not removed.

RE: DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask users
Zhash, this is my first week on CPAP after having sleep issues (hypersomnia and sleep paralysis) for 24 years. I finally had a doctor decided it could be more than my PTSD. The event that gave me PTSD happened 15 years ago. That left 9 years of sleep issues not covered under the PTSD umbrella. They always pointed at my violent childhood being the reason for the years before saying I've had PTSD longer than I realized. I'm thinking I just hit that magical age when they start looking at physical issues not just mental. I was 14 when the sleep issues started, 17 when diagnosed with Depression, 19 when interstitial cystitis was suspected but I didn't have insurance for the procedure to confirm it. 22 when diagnosed with IBS, 23 when the PTSD event happened, 25 when diagnosed PCOS, 28 when I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Interstitial cystitis was confirmed, and Anxiety. I brought up the sleep issues at 28 then but got the brush off on looking into it. I got the words that over the past ten I've learned to detest "Well, it must be the fibromyalgia" a whole new umbrella to have my issues passed off under by doctors. I finally had a doctor take a deeper look when I mentioned my near life-long sleep issues had been acting up worse than usual. I still have another sleep study to do after I'm on the CPAP for a little while. The sleep specialist thinks I may be dealing with multiple sleep disorder because of how long I've had sleep issues for.

I've never even seen another nasal pillow mask. My nostrils are a little different size but it seems to seal on both sides. I wear a small mask and a small pillow or cushion on the Dreamwear and the Wisp which has been my main mask.

Thank you Sidesleeper. I'm very new to CPAP therapy. I considered trying the gel pillows if the mask continues to cause issues for me. I like the Dreamwear headgear and the thought of other types of mask creeps me out.

I had the same issue. The small was too small and the medium too large. It was my nasal anatomy that couldn't tolerate the P-10 nasal pillows. I gave it a good try using them for six months because there wasn't anything better out there for me. I tried everything. I would shut the machine off first and wait before I removed the nasal pillows and the pain was terrible. At one point, the skin around my nostrils were bleeding. I tried lanolin around the nostrils with minimal results. I can't tell you enough how happy I am now with the DreamWare nasal mask. It is so non-invasive and I get a good seal every night.

I got the Dreamwear mask with the nasal pillows a few days ago. So far, no problem sleeping on my side. I thought it might pinch off the tube going to the top of the mask, but flow seems OK. I have had much less leaking than with other masks I have tried, even a little better than my favorite Nuance pro. You can get just the nasal pillows, as they fit right on the regular Dreamwear frame.
Old man, new machine. Better sleep! Thanks

I'm worried that I'll have the same problem that I had with the P-10 pillows. I'm doing ok using just the Dreamwear Nasal Mask without the pillows.
