Dreamwear Nasal Mask
I just purchased a Dreamwear Nasal Mask, and I notice that when I'm wearing it and I try to take a breath out of my mouth, I suddenly can't breathe at all through my nose. Is this supposed to happen? Is there a reason for this? It's very disconcerting.

RE: Dreamwear Nasal Mask
No expert, but yes, that is normal with a nasal mask - certainly my experience. The air running up your nose then heads straight out the mouth and it feels like you can't breathe at all. You need to keep your mouth closed when using these masks - there are various techniques explained in the forum including chinstraps, using your tongue to block your mouth and even taping over your mouth.

I find placing my tongue behind the upper front teeth really helps!
