Dry mouth
I use 2 different types of chin straps one is a simple strap that goes over the head and under the chin. The other is a over the head strap, with cutouts for the ears. I am getting bad dry mouth with both.

RE: Dry mouth
Doesn’t sound like your chin straps are doing a good job.

Some folk have better luck with using a “soft” cervical collar. This helps to keep your mouth/jaw closed so no air escapes. The collar also prevents chin tucking.

Then there are some that tape their mouths shut so no air escapes. I don’t personally recommend that, but does seem to work for many.

RE: Dry mouth
FWIW, I am one of those gotta-do-it tapists.  My very first night using CPAP was memorable because it was awful. The supplier/coach said to give a chin strap a try or that some resort to taping over their lips to seal that escape route (also happens to be the only other breathing route).  The chin strap wasn't going to happen that very evening, and I didn't want to withstand a second horrible night, not a consecutive one.  So, I thought I'd try the tape.

I haven't looked back.

RE: Dry mouth
after some success with a collar i recently started having more lip leaks & dry mouth. i did two things: tightened the collar more than the commonly recommended loose fit; and slipped a couple athletic sock tops over it to compensate for it softening & compressing with wear. probably time to buy a new one but so far so good.

RE: Dry mouth
If your like me, a chin strap or collar won't help. When I used a nasal mask air escaped between my teeth and through my lips even with my mouth tightly closed. I had to switch to a full face mask since I'm not comfortable with taping. I've found the full face mask to be comfortable for me.

RE: Dry mouth
I was using a F30 full face mask until a few months ago. Even after pressure increases with it my ahi numbers were still in the teens until I switched to the wisp. I had dry mouth then too. I just seems to have gotten worse in the last 2-3 weeks.

RE: Dry mouth
I went for years with no dry mouth issues.  I have used a Nasal Pillow Mask for several years without issue but over the lat year and a half I have been getting dry mouth.  It seems to be when I sleep on my side, one pillow leaks and allows the air to circulate through my mouth and oout the leaking nasal pillow.
I have tested theory and it seems to be the case.  even with a tightly closed mouth it will still dry out.
I cannot imaging going back to a regular nasal or full face mask as the leaks were horrible.
