Ear ache
Any advice for ear pain? I had a cold. Managed to survive it with the mask on every night but my ear pain has gotten progressively worse. Should I use heat? Sleep with the slee ear up or down? Any help appreciated.

RE: Ear ache
I had a severe cold the last couple of weeks. My ears hurt from time to time. For me, lying on the ear that aches seems to help. A cold is still a very miserable affair.

Take decongestants during the day. If the ear ache persists see a doctor.

RE: Ear ache
I am not a doctor, but from experience, untreated ear infections (if it come to that) can lead to a small amount of hearing loss.

RE: Ear ache
I failed to mention in my earlier post that I did see a doctor. If your ears hurt for more than a short while, definitely see a doctor.

RE: Ear ache
Certainly see a doc as soon as possible.

In the interim, use a netipot with saline/xylitol solution, decongestants, antihistamines as tolerated and put slightly warmed olive oil (small dropper bottle in armpit for 15 min is about right...) in the ear to keep the drum from popping (unless the ear is bloody or u think it has already popped). Mucinex (guaifenisen) is good to thin out secretions. Hot herbal tea is also beneficial, and many of them have antibacterial properties in addition to warm liquid being its own benefit

Tongue Suck Technique for prevention of mouth breathing:
  • Place your tongue behind your front teeth on the roof of your mouth
  • let your tongue fill the space between the upper molars
  • gently suck to form a light vacuum

Practising during the day can help you to keep it at night
