[Equipment] AirSense 10 For Her - data questions

I just got an Airsense 10 for Her a couple of weeks ago and am still getting used to it.  I had no idea there was an APAP targeted specifically to women!

Anyway, my machine did not come with an SD card.  I know the data transmits via cell tower and I can view very basic statistics on the MyAir web site.  But, I don't see any indication that this data is being transmitted to my doctor or my DME provider.  I am sure somebody is going to want to see compliance data and I am interested in data regarding treatment efficiency.

Does anybody know if the Airsense transmits to the DME and/or the healthcare provider or do I need to go buy an SD card?  How much space does the SD card need to have?  Also, where do I turn on data storage to the card?

You can basically buy any SD card, and 8GB would be more than sufficient.

Once you put in the card inside the machine, it would start recording detailed data, viewable with SleepyHead (PC software). Without the card, only summary information is recorded in the device's memory. It's basically data you can see on MyAir.

The ResMed machine only transmits data to ResMed servers, unless you put the machine in flight mode, to block it.

The Airsense 10s that came with an SD card had a 2gb card. The 8gb card that tedgreen mentioned will be plenty.

To answer your question on transmitting data, your DME and your doctor use a program called Airview and can get all the basics like AHI, compliance etc from your machine. I do not believe Airview gives them the detailed data that an SD card would store.

It looks like some clarification is in order.

For a xPAP like the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset for Her, there are 2 kinds of data outputs:

1) Data that goes through the airwaves (via cell) to your DME and your doc. You can also see this data at your account for myAir at Resmed. Think of this data as compliance tracking. The doc and the DME can see whether you're using your machine and generally how it's working as a treatment for you. If you go on myAir, you'll see that it's really not a whole lot of information, and you can find it way too basic in about 5 days.

2) Data that gets recorded onto an SD card (not supplied with the machine). You supply the SD card; it goes in the slot above the intake on the Resmed A10A. This is a LOT of data. The best way to look at it for purposes here is to download SleepyHead, stick the SD card (with your overnight data) into a USB card reader, and use the SleepyHead app to read it. You will soon see how much data you can get in one night!
Yes, you seriously have more access to data than your doctor does....Although, if you have a smart doctor, s/he will really appreciate it if you are comfortable with sleep data and can bring along relevant charts to appointments. Or else, just bring your whole laptop.

Your doctor can see everything you see if you bring your card to their office and they use the software package for your machine. It seems like a lot of them don't take the time to do that.

Heck, in a week of looking at your SleepyHead charts, you'll know a whole lot more about sleep technicalities than most every doc. 

AFAIK, the only detailed data even the sleep docs really get is from reading your sleep studies. Even the front-end folks (e.g. the sleep specialist nurse practitioners) where I go don't read charts. They just read the basic compliance data (in fact, they get it faxed over from the DME).

If you really want to get curious..... post your sleep study summary here (redact your name) and get some questions answered about what it all means. You will be waaaay ahead of most PCPs, and this is stuff you will likely want to know about yourself so that you can optimize your treatment.

I suppose it's true that you could take the SD card with all your data on it to a sleep appointment, but so far I haven't heard of a doctor who is either willing or able to actually get that data read. There's either no will or no way.

Thanks, everybody. I do have Sleepyhead on my laptop - I used it on my older machine. I'll go get an SD card for the Airsense so I can get a better idea of what is going on. The basic data on the the MyAir web site doesn't tell me much.
