Experience with lighter CPAP machines for travel?
Covet feedback about lighter CPAP like the Somnetics Transcend with humidifier for travel. Love my ResMed S9 but getting tired of schlepping it. Suprised that these haven't been reviewed already, for dependability and breathing experience. Thanks. IMHO this is the best blog out there.

RE: Experience with lighter CPAP machines for travel?
For last several years, I've used my AEIOMed when I travel. It's small, lightweight and easy to transport (you can hold it in the palm of your hand). It came with an 8-hour battery and a heated humidifier. Unfortunately, the company is no longer in business, but machines and parts/supplies can still be found on-line.

RE: Experience with lighter CPAP machines for travel?
I use the Transcend for doing health patrols in the Jungles in Papua New Guinea. My normal machine is the RESMed Autoset 10 which is great but not easy to carry around. The transcend gives me a unit that I can put in my pack and take with me for overnight stops in some of the villages.

I have a battery pack that I made up from parts off ebay (new items from China) and I use a solar panel to charge them. In terms of performance it isn't my RESMed but for portability it is great. I don't use the humidifier with it and I use nose pillows so it is small enough to carry in the field. I work away form Australia on a 28 day cycle so when I am in the main camp with electricity I use the RESMed and the Transcend is a back up for that as there would be no way to get a replacement if something happened to the RESMed. But when I have to leave the main camp on patrol to the villages the Transcend is very useful.
