[Equipment] Export from Sleepyhead

Export from Sleepyhead
Hi
I am struggling with the finer points of Sleepyhead having been using it very successfully to get a handle on my evolving treatment (which is now going fairly well thanks to all the help I have got from The Apnea Forum members both directly and indirectly). I have been trying to create a PDF file of my data results which I can send to my Sleep Advisor so that we can discuss them on the telephone (thus avoiding sending him my SD Card).
I have so far failed to do this so I have a couple of questions to ask:-

1. Is it possible to create a PDF or other file from within Sleepyhead to send to somebody over the internet. (My Sleep Doc is not allowed to have Sleepyhead software on the NHS computers "for security reasons") and if so how do I do this? Any advice would be welcome please.

2. I have been unable to determine just what the EXPORT facility within sleepyhead actually does. Could somebody tell me where I might find the file that has been exported when using this feature please?

In passing I have just been supplied with an extra wide Wisp cushion which I am told has just been released to the market (at least in the UK!). I slept with it for the first time last night and found it a great improvement on the previous largest size. I can recommend it having found the previous version a bit small for my not very large nose.

Cheers and thanks

Brian here is a Thought... Instead of making a PDF and instead of sending away your only SD card... Buy a second SD card and send that one and he can analyze the Data himself... The amount of time involved in creating the PDF, compared to spending 3-4 pounds on a 2 GIG SD card are astronomical in my opinion. That way you can copy and paste the files weekly, bi weekly or every 30 days... all you have to do is pay for postage after that... Just a thought! Big Grin

If you download ResScan, you can create a report for your advisor. Most are familiar with ResScan. It would be easier than trying to do it in SH as they will probably do what one of my docs did and say that they don't want to see things from SH and want to use the manufacturer's software. Just a suggestion.

RE: Export from Sleepyhead
G'day Brian

The export command creates a comma separated variable (CSV) text file which can be read by a spreadsheet program such as Excel. As to where it'socated - from memory (I'm not at my normal computer) SleepyHead creates a folder under My Documents and puts everything there.

As mentioned above, ResScan creates a very nicely formatted PDF file which is likely to be accepted by your doctor. If you want to create a PDF from Sleepyhead you need to have a PDF document creator application installed, such as Adobe Acrobat ($$) or CutePDF (freeware). Set that as your printer and away you go.

Edited to add: SH stores its files (including CSV) in C:\Users\yourname\Documents\SleepyHeadData

RE: Export from Sleepyhead
Hi ChadIAm
Thanks for the thought. It just seemed to me that I should be able to send a PDF file of what I am looking at to my advisor and then discuss it with him over the phone. He is happy with that but I can't do it. Sometimes the simple ways are the best though, so I may just have to go along with your suggestion if nothing else comes up. Thanks for the thought.

Hi Me50

I had not explained that the Hospital that provides me with support specialise in Respironics and while they are happy to support my S ResMed S9 it is not usual for them and they are happy to go along with SH but can't mount it on their own hardware for "security reasons". As You say ResScan looks like a simpler option in this case. Thanks for the advice

Brian

There are programs out there called pdfprinter. That will output a PDF file from the print option in Sleepyhead. Just google PDF printer and a bunch will pop up.

I personally use the built in windows XPS writer to email a file. Which creates an .xps file which most anybody can view and looks exactly like a pdf. You can convert the xps to PDF as well if you really need a pdf.

Should be installed on windows by default. So in sleepyhead go File-->Print Report-->Microsoft XPS Document Writer and choose the file location. Then you can Email that file or convert it to PDF.

Hi DeepBreathing,
Thanks
Thanks for the pile of sound advice. I have looked at the SH folder in My Docs but it is empty so I guess I did something wrong. Anyway it does sound as if ResScan looks like a better option so I better get on and download it. Thanks for the help.
Incidently, I am enchanted with your ICON which is exactly like the gas mask I used to be required to wear as a child during the Liverpool bombings during the second world war!! What goes around comes around as they say!!

Hello SnuffySleeper

Thanks for the advice on getting to a PDF file but it is looking a bit too complicated for me so I think I had better go the route of ResScan which an easier option.

Thanks anyway
