[Equipment] First night on new machine
#1
First night on new machine
Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to those who responded to my question for advice. I had been having great difficulty with getting a proper sleep test. I have been on CPAP since 2002, and have been on APAP since 2009 . My equipment died, and I couldn't get new and better equipment because of my inability to do a split night study starting on 0. I have been using a borrowed CPAP for about a year, set to 13, based on what gave me a good night's sleep.I was advised by group members last week to buy a Resmed airsense autoset 10, and to appeal to the group for help setting it up. I ordered the machine from Amazon on Friday morning, and lo and behold it arrived today! It already has an SD card in it. My computer has a place to insert the card. My question is what is the next step? If I try to sleep with it tonight, with the factory setting of 4-20, I probably will not get enough air. (The seller said that it was completely self adjusting, but members of the group said that this is not the case). At the same time, I know I need to post my results on the  forum, in order to get your advice. Should I put the machine up to say, 10? And after sleeping with it for a night, and downloading the software, what do I do next? Do I post it to the forum? IMGUR? Forgive me, but I am not very computer savvy.Thankful for your help,
Jeffrey S

RE: First night on new machine
Based on your existing settings I would set the min pressure to 10, set the max pressure to 15 (or leave it where it is at 25 the machine likely won’t go that high) turn off ramp, enable full time EPR with a value of 2.

Sleep the night then download your data with sleepyhead post the graphs on imgur. Look at my signatures for screen posting links and tips

Actually I think I'd set the min pressure to 13cm with 3 EPR and max pressure at 20cm. The 3cm will give you max comfort on your exhale and should put you pretty close to where you were on your old machine. Enjoy your new machine!

I stand corrected by better people than me... my thoughts were if 13 was not needed then why go to that pressure when the resmed auto set will get there pretty quickly on its own if required.

jaswilliams, I'm no better. I selected 13cm because the EPR at 3cm would drop the actual pressure to 10cm. That's well below where his other machine was set but close enough.

OK, I ran my machine last night at 11-20, as my old CPAP setting was merely a guess. I'm not tech savvy enough to know how to post this, so I simply am copying and pasting. I hope this will do. Please advise.
