Is Prisma 20A quieter than Airsense 10 autoset
Hello everyone,

Somebody already tried both machines and could answer this question?

Have a nice night.

RE: Is Prisma 20A quieter than Airsense 10 autoset
I have a ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet. I can say it's dead quiet.

If there's anything quieter than dead quiet, I'd sure like to hear about it.  Cool

First thanks for your answer.

In fact I ask that because my pulmonologist told me the prisma 20a is much quieter than the airsense 10. (Deutsche Qualität blablabla)

So I took the prisma 20a.

After two weeks I can confirm that is a good product, similar to the airsense, my ahi is between 1 and 3, deadly silent, prismaTS software is good enough.

But:
- no data in the air, no mobile app. When I asked to him, he said me yes you have. (if I keep it, I’ll make one for it and include crossdata with my smart watch)
- no Oscar compatibility. (if I keep it, I’ll join the team to add compatibility)
- the algorithms seems not to be as efficient as those of the airsens.
- air temp not adjustable. (I leave in alps mountains and keep my windows open)
- humidifier poor efficiency.

So if i can be sure that the airsense is also quiet i will test it.  (I am currently in a trial period)

Fun fact: I asked for a F30i and he told me, it’s not good and conceived me a F10. After a trial and some search on the web, I found the sound specification of this mask which is the loudest of the range.

So now I have a lot of doubt about this “specialist“

RE: Is Prisma 20A quieter than Airsense 10 autoset
I had never heard of the Prisma 20a, so just took a quick look on the site of the Australian seller I bought my Airsense Autoset from. At that store, the Prisma is 40% more expensive than the Resmed machine and appears to be lower spec (as you point out).

It's hard for me to imagine any machine being significantly quieter than the Resmed and besides, the Resmed is quiet enough that I simply don't hear it, so the noise disturbance argument is moot.

That leaves us with build quality and, again, my experience with two Resmed machines has so far been 100% reliability, with my first machine reaching the manufacturer's maximum recommended motor hours and still going strong. I still keep it as a spare/backup machine. You can't do better than that in 'real world' terms.

One other issue that might make a difference is support in Swisserland. If the Prisma has better local support, that might be an important factor. Other than that, I see no reason to opt for the Prisma, IMO.

I didn't know what to expect when I got my CPAP machine. I just assumed that all CPAP machines were pretty much all the same.

It wasn't until I became a member of this forum, that I learned differently. I was very fortunate indeed, that my sleep doctor ordered a ResMed AutoSet for me.

Like I said already, my machine is dead quiet. I don't think you can get much better than that.  like

What's the price difference between the Autoset and the Prisma in Switzerland?

To get a sound out of my machine, I would have to pull my mask away from my face to know if my machine is on.

Very few people here use the Prisma. Is it a European manufacturer?

I don't care about the price because it's cover by the insurance, but yeah there two different reseller for both machine, in fact Brand's company direct sending you parts and send the bill to the insurance. I asked for a F30i and my "doc" haven't got it, so Lowenstein sent me one at home within 1 day. I don't know if resmed are in the same time of respond.

Yes the most noisy part is the mask. I tried the F10 (was gave with the Prisma 20a by the "doc"), crazy noise. Now with the F30i I could ear a clock sound from the Prisma 20a (like tic - tic - tic... each second) and the air inside the hose.

It's a german company named Löwenstein Medical.

So to resume nobody outside europe seem to know the prisma 20a.

After a little pros and cons I did, and based on my low needed pressure level (around 7) and ear what you said, I can assume there is no reason to keep the prisma.

So I going to change it for an airsense 10 autoset.

I'll give you a feedback soon, I'll see him in 10 days.
