RE: Nasal Pillows - how to make them work?
I use the Swift LT "for her". They're okay.
Nasal pillows really should not be tight at all. They, like all masks, work best when "floating" in place.
I use the Neill saline mix with the Ayr squirt bottle to do the nasal rinse. I only use it during allergy season and during the winter when it is "dry nose" season.

Do you happen to have a mask brand or model name for those 'dialator' pillows?

Peter, those pillows are for the Breeze.
RE: Nasal Pillows - how to make them work?
Well, I found a Swift LT in my spares box, so I tried these nasal pillows last night. Woke up to a burning nose, congested, sneezing - the whole bit. Plus hardly any water was used last night. So, if I decide to try these again, looks like I need to turn the humidity way up.
My leak rate was 0.68L/s - so I suspect mouth-breathing. Have a new FFM on the way - that may be my new future, we shall see.

RE: Nasal Pillows - how to make them work?
Hi Peter; robysue has alot of good info relating to pillows. I use the Swift FX for ladies, which I settled on after a slew of full face failures. I came to see that the trial cushions were all too old, hence the trials failed. I figured that one out after realizing medicare replaces ff cushions after one month. Off subject, back on now. I had to mess with the sizing of the pillows at first. They come in extra small, small, medium and large. I tried medium, quickly changed to small, then to extra small. Alot depends on the proper fit and sizing. That's key. I don't have my straps ultra loose, like mentioned above. Mine are kept firmly in place but not to the point of leaving marks on my cheeks. The best part of pillows is that I can read with my mask on or use my tablet <taboo, I know> in bed for a bit before I nod off. I hate how ff masks rule out glasses. Just try the various sizes. I have very small nares, ha ha, my only really small body part, by the way. The outside rim has to be outside of the nose. It works great for me. I think alot depends on the actual structure of the nose. Some here can't get a seal with them no matter what. I wish you the best of luck and will say a few prayers tonight too for all my fellow cpap sufferers, or should I say cpap winners. At least we're fighting the good fight and trying to be proactive with our health. We all deserve a pat on the back. Love, DJ
RE: Nasal Pillows - how to make them work?
DJ - the funny (strange) part is the only size pillows that were with it were size 'small', and even with me being on BiPap with somewhat higher pressures, zero leaks from the get-go, and, no pain from being on too tight either - just would need to crank up the humidity (how weird is that?) - but mouth-breathing is mouth-breathing, so I'll see how the FFM works out when it arrives.
It's a shame as at least the Swift LT seemed quite comfortable and I went to sleep with it easy-peasy...

RE: Nasal Pillows - how to make them work?
resmed swift fx info on pillow sizing
It sure is aggravating to read in more than once place here that patients aren't being appraised of all the available sizes of pillows for the swift fx. This page clearly states the sizes run from xsmall to large. We are supposed to be given choices to try various sizes. I had trouble with this because my nares are extra small. I also grew into keeping my mouth closed as time went by. That does happen. Love, DJ
