[Equipment] SD Card Removal [from Cpap]

SD Card Removal [from Cpap]
I have been unplugging my ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet every time I remove the SD Card for OSCAR to do its thing.

Okay, call me lazy/old, but it is a bit of pain to get to the wall outlet. oldman

Is there anything taboo with removing the SD card while the unit is plugged in but not in use?

RE: SD Card Removal
I recently read somewhere here that read like a quote from a user manual to turn the machine off before removing sd card. I've not unplugged or turned the machine off to remove or insert the card in 2.5 years of daily downloading from a resmed airsense 10 autoset and a resmed aircurve 10 asv. knock on wood no problems so far.

Definitely makes sense to power off the machine. Thanks for the feedback!

I remove mine without unplugging. No issues so far.

RE: SD Card Removal
theoak,
I don’t use a ResMed, so not sure what ResMed recommends.  I’ve never unplugged my Respironics  APAP to remove the SD card.

If it’s hard for you to reach the wall outlet, then use a power strip with a long enough cord that is easy for you to access.  This way, you just have to flip a switch.

On window 10, when the sd card is in, click on document (file explorer), down left SDHC in red, right click, go to eject, left click & a ''SAFE TO REMOVE HARDWARE '' will appear, take out the SD card

Thanks, that’s good to know, but I think the discussion is about removing SD card from the Cpap machine.

All’s well. I really didn’t know that bit of info on how to properly remove the SD card when using Windows 10. I usually just hastily eject it, and I’m pretty sure I ruined a card by doing that. Sad

RE: SD Card Removal [from Cpap]
The instructions for my Resmed 9 indicate to unplug. I use a power strip so its not difficult to turn off. However, turning the machine on and off cannot be good for the machine in terms of the power supply jolting the circuit cards when turning on and off.
