[Equipment] soft ware

soft ware
I am 3 days old using my Resmed S9 Auto. I am accepting the new way of sleeping quite well. I am interested in the software for my computer that will read the disk in the S9. The DME said you can only use the Resmed card and no others, is this correct? I was also told that reading the card on the computer would effect the data that has been collected. I am concerned about this, since I am still in the compliance stage. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Cool

Hi Sleepyonpar:
First of all Welcome to "The Board".

Yes there is software to record your data, in fact there are two programs.

One being "ResScan" and the other "Sleepyhead". The choice is yours. A lot of us run both as a comparison and some find it easier to run Sleepyhead.
Link to "ResScan

Link to "Sleepyhead"

Be sure to read all downloads and other instructions carefully. If you have any further questions...just ask and someone will respond ASAP.
Remember there are so foolish questions..just foolish answers!

Good Luck.

As you may have learned from other posts, Windows 8.1 will add files to your memory card if you insert it into your computer in an unlocked state. You can prevent this by locking the card, using the slide switch on the side of the card, before you insert it into the computer card reader. Then unlock the card before you place it back in the S9 card slot.

If you forget to perform the lock/unlock procedure, the S9 will detect the Windows files and ask whether you want to erase the data on the card. If you answer yes, the S9 will format the card and write the summary data from internal memory back to the card. All you will have lost is detailed data which is not necessary for compliance evaluation. You have saved the detailed data in SleepyHead anyway so really you have lost nothing.

There is a method for manually deleting the Windows files using your computer but it's more difficult and the result is the same. When I forget (I do and you will), I just let the S9 take care of it.

First, exactly which machine do you have? Does it have AutoSet near the start button or Escape?

Adding to the above posts, you can use the software and it will not affect the data as long as the above caution of locking the card is observed. And as stated even if you forget, the machine will rewrite the compliance data to the card.

You do not HAVE to use a ResMed card in the machine. Any 2gb or 4gb SD card will work.

Hi Sleepyonpar,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
It's great to hear that you are taking well to your CPAP therapy.
You don't have to stick with strictly a Resmed SD card, you can use any brand.
Best of luck to you.

But, during compliance period, I would not use any other card than the one given to you by the provider. After that, you can use another card. Speed class 2 is just fine; and 2 GB matches the size of the RESMED card. Just for safety, I lock my SD card whenever I put it into my computer's reader. Remember to unlock it just before popping it back in the machine.

Next to on/off button, should say AutoSet or Escape Auto
AutoSet full data capable machine. If Escape Auto, don,t bother about the software, not going tell you more than what you see on the screen sleep report. (SleepyHead shows no data, Rescan shows limited data, no detailed data graphs)

I,m still using the same Resmed SD card came with the machine, the card never get full.
Downloading the data on your computer won't affect anything, whenever you put the card in the machine, the machine write therapy/compliance data on the card up to 365 days. Detailed/flow data written directly on the card, not stored on the machine, important to keep the card in the machine so you don,t loose any data. The card store 365 days of therapy/compliance data, 30 day detailed data and 7 days flow data.
