EtheB - Therapy Thread
[attachment=47872][attachment=47872]

Hi there,

I recently attended a 'sleep study' where it was recommended that I get some treatment for my condition and the therapist recommended my purchasing a ResMed AirSense 10 Autosense from them. To be honest their pricing was more than I could honestly justify so I purchased a used one with less than six months use, abandoned all the accessories and purchased new Resmed mask, heated tube, humidifier tank, filters etc... and reset the machine to factory settings.
I now need to establish a good starting point for my treatment. I'm attaching a copy of my sleep study report, but have so far found that using -

EPR OFF
SmartStart OFF
Min 8 Max 15
EPR 3
Ramp OFF (0)

-appears to be OK for me.

Any advice would be appreciated.

New user looking for advice
        Hi there,

I'm a 74 year old male of average height (173cm) and weight (82kg) who was diagnosed with sleep apnea after many years of snoring and broken sleep. It was recommended that I purchase a Resmed AirSense 10 Autoset machine along with a Resmed AirFit N30i nasal pillow mask and heated tube.

I've been using these this past week with mixed success (I don't have access to a therapist) ad am looking for advice and assistance in getting things better.

Please see attached 'Oscar' information.

RE: EtheB - Therapy Thread
EtheB, you are using your Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset with a minimum pressure of 7.0, maximum 15.0 and EPR full-time at setting 3. These settings are different from what you summarized above 8-15 EPR off. This appears to be working great. Both of your charts are for the same day, so we really only have one sample, but there is not much to recommend on the basis of these results. The event rate is low and there is not much fluctuation in pressure. The leak rate is acceptable with room for improvement. The only issue is the short duration of therapy at 4:17 is not adequate for a full night of restful sleep.

    Thanks Opal and Sleeprider -

Thanks for the information and feedback, both appreciated.
I've not been well lately so only got to use the ResMed again for the first time last night - adjusted the EPR a little and had THE very best night's sleep in positively ages!

I'll try posting my latest data -

EtheB,
Great looking chart! As long as you slept well and feel good, I wouldn't adjust anything right now, unless something changes.

OpalRose,

Thanks for the reply.
Just had another really excellent nights sleep using same settings so I’ve no intention of altering them without advice otherwise.

I don't see how we can improve on these great results and comfortable settings. Your pressure never goes above 10 cm. Glad to hear it's working well for you.
