Feeling air blowing near my nasal pillow

RE: Feeling air blowing near my nasal pillow
What would be considered good numbers? Someone said in another post that AHI doesn't mean anything and its all about RERA? How do I know if my leaks are casuing me to have bad sleep?

I feel better, much better, but not like super better. I would assume moving from dying a little every minute of every night to less than once and hour would be a lot bigger change.

Below is a cropped of your imgur, these are in the acceptable range, but I'm supposing you're not well rested or sleep disturbances of some sort that you're not satisfied.

Remind us what is not acceptable, what's needing attention?

AHI of 5.0 or less is defined as treated. So what I've seen recently on the OSCAR charts looks very good. At this point it all hinges on how you feel whether therapy is successful or not.

idk about more important (compared to what?) but it could be for some people depending on the nature of their condition & symptoms.

obviously if sleep is the goal, all arousals are antithetical to that. just like apnea, some are normal, some more are probably acceptable, more than whatever that is, if still not getting restorative sleep, should be addressed.

so it depends on how many you have and how you feel.

RE: Feeling air blowing near my nasal pillow
Arousals are problematic, and that is why the machine and its software are designed to let you, and your therapist/specialist know that you are experiencing them.  They have the effect of interrupting the normal stage-succession of the typical, normal, sleep.  If it takes the 'average' person an 'average' of 90 minutes or so to get to the first REM cycle, and that's what the science has been telling us for quite a while now, then any RERA's between sleep onset and the first REM cycle might rob you of that REM.  But, if you get two more RERA's between then and the next hour or so, when will you ever get REM sleep?!?!

So, RERA's are important, but so are the leaks if they are what are causing your arousals.  By themselves, the leaks for most of us most of the time are innocuous, well within the machine's design to make up for with more flow to compensate and to maintain your requisite, and prescribed, treatment pressure.  If they are substantial, recur frequently, and lead to arousals, it may be why you aren't responding well to your treatment with a general sense of satisfaction and well-being.

Most of us have to learn how to sleep with what we brung to the bed.  We each find different masks fit best and allow us to get to sleep.  Then, we do something that breaks the seal and we get eyelid brushing wisps of air, or facial-hair tickling wisps of air that alert us to the leak.  Unfortunately, being alert means........

You'll need to figure out how to sleep so that you can still sleep comfortably, but also minimize the cushion deformations or displacements that lead to the leaks.
