First Night CPAP Oscar Data - Please Advise!

Question
First Night CPAP Oscar Data - Please Advise!
Hello Wonderful Board!

I have a lifetime of poor sleep quality and having the energy level of a 90 year old throughout despite often "sleeping" 9+ hours per night or more with naps.  I recently had my first sleep study done (but despite being very tired, found it almost impossible to sleep there - and as you can see, zero rem sleep achieved at all) as attached below.

Got a ResMed Auto AirSense 10.  Heated hose.  P10 nasal pillows.  Did some research before the first night and got a 2" cervical collar - which I added in around 4 am or so I think b/c I think my mouth was opening and that did the trick to stop it.  I always wake up multiple times a night.  By the way, I am not sure what to do when I need to use the restroom a couple times at night so I just unplug the short tube from the hose as I don't want to take the headgear off as it takes a bit of time to get my hair back through the middle again.  Not sur[attachment=42368][attachment=42368][attachment=42369]e how that affects results here.  By morning, I was trying different settings to get better sleep - nothing seemed to work.  I have felt all day like I have a strange mild headache and like air was shot up by nasal cavity with a firehose.  I guess that is all normal?  Feel out of it and tired (I am usually tired but not out of it feeling).  Was so hopeful this would give me the energy I crave to lead a "normal" life - my siblings said their cpap was instantly life changing for them.  AGH!  Tried to research here what my results mean but honestly I am too tired to make sense of it.  Any advice, help, etc, would be so appreciated.  I always feel like I am tired, its difficult to think, and my memory is shot more than it should be at this age (late 40s, normal BMI).  I can't work a normal day without naps.

One last question - when I hit stop on the machine, the flow does not go off - just seems to go low.  So I just unplug the machine altogether.  What newbie idiot thing am I missing here?  Smile

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for any help you can offer.  Apologies in advance if I did the screen shotting wrong, etc.

SLEEP STUDY RESULTS:

Laboratory Findings: The sleep study was conducted on room air. The patient took N/A. During the baseline portion, the patient slept for 61 minutes during a recording time of 169.4 minutes for a sleep efficiency of 36.2%. Sleep latency was 57 minutes and REM sleep latency was - minutes. Sleep architecture during baseline revealed; 14.7% stage N1, 59.5% stage N2, 25.9% stage N3, and 0.0% stage REM. Supine sleep was reported as 61.4 minutes, with 0 minutes spent in REM while supine. The baseline demonstrated an apnea-hypopnea index of 14.7 per hour. Respiratory events consisted of 2 obstructive apneas, 12 obstructive hypopneas, 1 central apneas, 0 central hypopneas, 0 mixed apneas. Moderate snoring was noted. The periodic limb movement index was 89.9 per hour. The approximate minimum oxygen value was 86.0%. The cumulative time with oxygen saturation less than or equal to 88% was 0.5 minutes. During the titration portion of the study the patient slept for 159.5 minutes during a recording time of 240.2 minutes for a sleep efficiency of 66.4%. Sleep architecture during the titration revealed; 7.8% stage N1, 80.6% stage N2, 11.6% stage N3, and 0.0% stage REM. The periodic limb movement index during the titration phase was 0 events per hour. CPAP settings of 5 to 8 cmH2O were tested. At the CPAP setting of 8cmH2O the apnea-hypopnea index was <1 events per hour. Baseline oxygen saturations generally remained greater than 90% at this setting. The periodic limb movement index during baseline was 89.9. The periodic limb movement index during PAP titration was 0. Video monitoring was unremarkable. EEG Monitoring was unremarkable. Electrocardiographic monitoring revealed normal sinus rhythm.

When you stop the air sense it shows a snowflake in the screen and still runs the air on low speed for a little bit to dry out the line.  This should be pretty quiet and not as loud as when you remove the mask while the machine is still on. It will stop blowing by itself after a little bit.
