RE: First Night Statistics
obstructive is when your throat is closed. clear airway is when your throat is open. There are a few things that will cause it, including a sigh. you would need to zoom in on a sleepyhead chart to see what is going on. I wouldn't think it will become an issue. you are doing extremely well with an AHI under 2.
RE: First Night Statistics
Clear Airway events are apnea events that occur when the airway is not obstructed. Respironics (incorrectly) calls them Central Apnea. Central Apnea is a apnea event that occurs without respiratory effort. The Central refers to the brain not sending a signal to breath. This can happen for a number of reasons I won't go into here (Look in the wiki for Central Apnea). Our machines do not measure brainwaves, and we are not measuring chest or abdominal expansion, which sleep labs do, thus ResMed calls anything that might be Central as a Clear Airway Event.

Clear airway events occur when the brain fails to send the body a signal to breathe. There are many reasons that this may occur. My best guess if they are few and far between would be: Not being fully asleep or the user not being accustomed to a higher pressure. These seem to be the most common ones.
Good job and good luck!
Ahhh, I see. For example, when I'm still awake during the ramp, I noticed that I may pause my breathing (spontaneous, unintentional). Ok, now I get it. Thank you!

Thank you! I'm going to pour over the Wikis today.

RE: First Night Statistics
Good morning and happy Friday!
Sharing data from my 10th night with CPAP for your expert feedback. Still getting the hang of Sleepyhead. Hope I did this correctly. Thank you!

RE: First Night Statistics
Looks like you are well on your way. Many here would envy your numbers! More importantly though, how are you feeling?
