Yes, with Autoset, you can start with a wider range of pressure and the data from the machine will help you narrow it down, based on the data you can get out of it.
Be certain you can insert an SD card into the machine you get.
I'm trying to remember where I've seen information about buying alternatives. Buying from an established dealer is safest; Facebook would be one of the less safe options. Not so much that the machine would be counterfeit, but its condition and hours of use might not be what you'd been led to believe, and then what do you do.
I appreciate your responses, Lucid.
Alright, I will make sure it has an SD card slot. I have seen models with 3G/4G capability, is this for connection between the unit and the respective phone application?
I will most certainly make my purchase eventually from an authorized store, too risky to fork out half the money just because its, half the money. Just thought I would grab an opinion.
I do want the Resmed Airsense 11 Autoset - but its only available in the US right now and that means I will have to deal with international warranty claims if needed, which might be challenging.
If you use a machine yourself, what do you have?
Thanks again
RE: First time here!
Don't answer the machine question, just saw that under your profile name it says everything
RE: First time here!
The 4G cellular capability allows the machine to send to your doctor or other CPAP provider. It can also allow them to review and adjust the machine remotely using ResMed software. Not everyone wants this, as you might imagine, but it's useful for others, especially those who need to document compliance for insurance or job requirements.
Not all AirSense 11 machines have cellular capability. Some are "card to cloud," which means you would take the SD card to your doctor for them to download.
If I remember correctly, the MyAir phone app uses Bluetooth and doesn't depend on cellular capability.
OSCAR reads data from the SD card.
I'm very happy with my AirSense 11. The AirSense 10 is still a popular and highly regarded machine, though. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
RE: First time here!
Unless you are required to demonstrate compliance on the CPAP, the modem is not important. I am yet to see the member of this forum that got better advise from a doctor or supplier than they could get through coaching on this forum. The SD card has the capability to do SD to Cloud, so you have the ability to transmit data to a doctor, but most professionals only provide a cursory review of the data, focusing on hours of use and AHI. You have the ability with Oscar to do much more and make better decisions.

Order the clinician's manual from this board first, so you know how to check the run hours. The life expectancy is 5 years, which is about 2080 hours. Also familiarize yourself with photographs of the machine so you know if you're looking at the genuine thing. If the current owner lives in a smoker's house, you will probably have to take the machine apart and clean it. Not as hard as it sounds if you're a bit handy.

RE: First time here!
Thanks for the reply. I could definitely do a full clean on the unit, but I think I would much rather deal with a brand new unit now thinking about it
I scheduled a tele-appointment with my GP tomorrow afternoon as I will let them know that I have been through a Home Sleep Apnea Test (HSAT) so that they know. Are there any questions I should ask? And will they usually refer you to a sleep specialist (eventual machine adjustment etc) or what usually happens?
Thank you

Someone is missing a zero. My Resmed Aircurve Vauto is currently at 22,600 hours. A single year of use can be. 2900 hours, so lifespan is easily 8-years, but most insurance is based on a 5-year life. I agree that everyone should know how to call up the run-hours by entering the provider menu and scrolling down to "About".

Oh yeah, forgot to multiply by 7 days in a week. It should be 5 years times 52 weeks times 7 days times 8 hours. That gives us 14,560.
Mine has 23,788 hours on it.

There are several airsense 10 and airsense 11 models with different fissures/capabilities. Be sure to get the the autoset model. I used an airsense 10 autoset for 6 years and replaced it with an airsense 11 autoset two months ago. I've noticed no difference in performance,

Hi, jnanthanc
Here are some useful references:

Your initial sleep study was done at home, so you didn't get all the data that would have been obtained in a lab. Nonetheless, it clearly showed severe sleep apnea. I would think your GP would refer you to a sleep doctor unless Australia has very different protocols. The sleep doctor will likely refer you to a sleep lab for a titration study.
With a ResMed Autoset machine, it's not absolutely essential to do titration in a sleep lab, but the lab titration would provide a useful starting point and additional data.
You haven't mentioned insurance. That always carries specific requirements.
It seems like a lot of steps, and further persistence is required after you've gotten your machine, but it's really worth it. Wish I'd done it ten or fifteen years earlier.
