Yep, definitely things are lost in translation, not sure what to say as even my attempts to alleviate the situation have got lost in translation.

hallra, I don't know your English health system so you have to fill in blanks that are appropriate in your area of the globe. Here in the US, most doctors can script a CPAP machine in the various styles available. This is after you obtain a patient/doc working relation. Here in the US we have primary docs, specialists, dentists, etc that could write a PAP script and make patient notes of medical necessity. The goal is to get health insurance to pay for a PAP machine.

I don't know yet if the editing of settings of the current CPAP has met its limit in attempts at giving you the therapy necessary to fulfill your unique needs. We each need PAP therapy to match our specifics, so this is not just unique to you. There is a time factor in getting the proper therapy dialed in and another time factor in getting used to it. I personally think these 2 time segments are ones you set on the line of I'm willing to allow this much time to gain a benefit and such similar concepts. The total package of therapy needing to address your sleep health includes a PAP package and needs to allow things that address other health needs as applicable.

You're not the only one. It's only partly a language issue, in my view.

It's mostly he tries to communicate complex ideas in a shorthand that basically only he understands, and refuses to fully explain when pressed (the examples he just posted are great though!).

Or, as you can read in Sleeprider's direct response to his assertions earlier in this thread, we may understand, but simply disagree.

How long have you been on cpap?
Caveats: I'm just a patient, with no medical training.

...... you need to give me more explanation, more words, so I can understand what you mean. I think this is a translation problem, do you want to private message me, perhaps we can have a 1:1 conversation and get this right once and for all? Otherwise we could be doing this for a long time...

_ sorry, I had not payed full attention to this. Yes, we could go for 1:1 conversation; I would be happy keep trying to help you.

all the best

We strongly recommend that members not give or seek advise privately off the forums. No one here shoud be pretending to be so expert that there can't be a second opinion from other members. There are a lot of reasons, but it is actually a policy among the forum staff we won't do this, and while I'm sure Mper means well, this is not something you should pursue.

Sleeprider, I understand completely and totally agree 100% with you, however that wasn't what the aim was here and note it was I that asked Mper, not the other way around...

What I was trying to get past was the language barrier, so I could understand exactly what he wanted me to post, so then I could post on the forum what he wanted to see. Also I was not going outside of the forum, I was wanting to use the messaging facility on the forum page which is labelled 'private messages'... Note a 1:1 conversation is a better communication method to use when a language barrier exists and also it keeps the subject thread clean of chatter that isn't relevant to the subject and is only relevant to the ongoing misunderstanding between myself and Mper.

Hope that clarifies the situ and clears up any misunderstanding, I'm not going off on a private conversation with anyone.

I agree with this as well, the shorthand is adding to the complexities of the language issue, the 1:1 conversation would have confirmed this one way or the other, I didn't want to prejudge... Wink

I haven't been on CPAP long enough, I understand that it takes time, however I got a sleep doctor who is already talking of dropping CPAP and going down the dental route, which is causing me issues...

I'm now going to answer SarcasticDave94's question about the Health Care setup in the UK...
