I used the Acapella Flutter Valve a few years ago to aid in loosening up mucus in my lungs.  My Pulmonologist had prescribed it for me at the time.  In my case it worked for the thinner mucus which might be typical for a URI.  YMMV....

Thanks Jeff-  What I was wanting to loosen up was thick mucus probably due to chronic sinusitis condition that Bi-PAP only makes worse at night. Still might be the best option..

Thinking about it more, I was also taking Mucinex (Dr's recommendation) while using the flutter valve. So it may have been the combination of the 2 that worked.

I use and have used a flutter device for years. It works to aid in removing the junk from my lungs. It takes the place of coughing and does the same basic action. If I am coughing too much I will get cramping.

Get one and learn to use it is my suggestion.
