Forgot to Change Mask Settings on ResMed S 9

Forgot to Change Mask Settings on ResMed S 9
Last night was a bit hellish because I tried out my new Nano and discovered I was a mouth breather big time and I couldn't fix it with a chin strap. So I went back to my ff mask without changing the settings in the machine. I did not do well and my AHI and leakage was higher. How do mask settings affect pressure?

ResMed machines report unintentional leak. unintentional leak = total leak minus intentional leak
Mask setting might affects unintentional leak (mask plus mouth leak) as each mask type have different intentional leak rate (vents leak) at different pressures

In other words, as far as treatment goes, no, makes little difference. What matters is how it reports the leak rate. Probably not much of a difference between pillows and mask but sure would be for any other mask type and a full face mask.

Mask setting being wrong would not affect delivered mask pressure.

Mask setting being wrong would cause errors in calculation of Intentional Leak (through mask vent holes) versus Unintentional Leak. This does not affect therapy pressure, only causes error in reporting Intentional Leak versus Unintentional Leak.

I suspect it may affect things like EPR, bilevel and how quickly the machine regulates the pressure as you inhale and exhale. It might also slightly affect the measurement of AHI and central vs. obstructive.

However, I think the above effects are relatively minor.

Sorry to hijack this thread but does anyone know the difference between nasal and nasal ultra on the mask settings for the S9?

ResMed seem making things simpler (maybe not) with the S9 mask settings as lumping all masks of the same types together, for example "Nasal" for all nasal masks but with two exceptions:
1- Ultra Mirage nasal mask ... mask setting: Nasal Ultra
2- Swft FX Nano nasal mask ... mask settings: Pillows
