RE: Frightening results
That's fine, don't bother.

I'm calling operation tennis ball a success.

Sometimes it takes a while to see the thread again or get back to the computer. You might edit the subject line adding data posted or something relevant.

It looks to me (as a noob) that the results are a lot better since I've been wearing the tennis ball shirt. The AHI's are way down. Hopefully that means less likelihood of having a stroke!

Hi robotman, I also have a serious problem with Central Apnea and periodic breathing. I took a look at your most recent data and found it to be very encouraging. First of all you have got the Obstructive events under control. The other problem that you have is that you most likely have Complex Apnea. That means you have both Obstructive and Central apnea. The CPAP pressure of 12 and sleeping on your side seems to have taken care of the Obstructive Apnea. The Central Apnea - periodic breathing is better but still can be an issue for you. The main question is how are you sleeping? Do you feel rested and awake? The periodic breathing with Central apnea can interfere with your sleep pattern because it keeps you from entering deeper levels of sleep. You may have seen that you have some long periods of "good sleep". I have the same pattern sometimes. During those deep sleep periods you don't have the Centrals and Hypopneas. People with Complex Apnea are often prescribed ASV machines. They are Auto Servo Ventilators. These machines and also machines that can be programed with a backup rate encourage you to breathe during periods of Central Apnea. You might get better sleep and reduce the Central events even more. Print out 10 minute sections of your recent data and show them to your Doctor or on of the Sleep Techs. Also do some research on this site and with search engines on Complex Apnea and ASV machines.

Thanks again. As for the complex apnea/ASV machines, all I can really do at this point is wait for the trip to the sleep clinic/specialist. Mainly, I'm just glad the sleeping-on-your-back thing is fixed; hopefully I don't have to worry as much about strokes now. Smile

Hi robotman,
Glad staying off your back is helping.
You may consider printing off the "before" (on your back ) and "after" (off your back)
to show your sleep Dr . the difference it means for you. Mine never got the data. Otherwise they'll(RT) download and assume the data includes back sleeping.
I had printed mine off , done a two week period back sleeping and two week period side sleeping to show the difference . He was quite surprised .It took another 2 yr to get titrated with ASV machine , hope it doesn't take you that long to get it sorted out.
JMHO.
