GP or Sleep Doc?

Mine was the opposite.

I needed a prescription for APAP instead of CPAP. After talking with him for a while he acknowledged that I seemed to know a lot more about how OSA is treated and happily wrote a script, including the pressure range I suggested. Of course, this range came from advice on this forum. I love my GP, he listens and is able to quietly redirect me from my self diagnoses.

Ally, if there's a sleep apnea support group in your area (AWAKE or another one), you could call the group's contact person and ask them about good sleep specialists in your area.

I haven't done this for sleep apnea, but I've had good success with this method for finding specialists for other problems.

Sleep Specialist
Other Specialist
Primary Care Physician/ General Physician

I ask because it was never suggested after my sleep study that I consult with a specialist, and although I love my GP, this isn't her specialty.

Thanks!
