RE: General Anesthesia and OSA
This topic was timely for me as I am having a lumbar spine fusion (4 and 5) Monday, plus some other clean up work--surgery could run 4 hours. I've had only one major surgery since I started Pap and had a spinal for a knee replacement. They were very aware and took good care of me, including oxygen and 24 hour pulse oximeter monitoring. I did have two shoulder surgeries, about 1.5 hours, under general in the year before I found out I had sleep apnea and didn't have any problems. I have a few quirky heart problems and they are pretty careful. They provide the machine (it was a PR last time) and patient provides the make and tubing.
