General questions on SD card data

General questions on SD card data
In the process of getting a PR DreamStation Pro. Moving on from a Devilbiss DVD53.

This will be my 3rd machine, but the first with an SD card.

Do you just leave the card plugged in all the time, and only remove it when printing reports? Do you need to back up the data?

Any problems with them getting corrupted? I need an annual report, I'd hate to find out on day 364 that I didn't have any records.

G'day KSMatthew
Yes, leave the card in the machine all the times, especially while sleeping
As for compliance report, the machine store compliance and statistics data and write it on the SD card
No chance to loose the data unless someone erase machine data
My advice, always get the Auto model, even if you're on fixed pressure , the reason being ... good to have the auto option and only cost a bit more than the Pro, better future investment choice

+1 on the Auto and making a back up is always a good idea. I use a Wifi SD card with SleepMaster to copy it to my laptop, which is backed up.

Thx, and a G'day back at ya, zonk.

I got a good price on the Pro, and you're right, the Auto isn't a huge step up in cost, but they still don't give them away. I've been on fixed pressure for around 10-12 yrs now. Will have to consider this.

Thanks, all.

After considering the above comments, I'm now leaning towards the Auto version of the DreamStation over the Pro. I'm on standard therapy, and have been for over a decade. I'd like to be able to mess around with the auto settings to see what happens.

Like all things electronic, SD cards are subject to rare failures and, more likely, user accidents.

Be aware of the capacity limits of your SD card. My AirSense card only carries a year's worth of summary data and a month's worth of detailed data. So if you want a year's worth of detailed data, you need to implement your own solution to capture the detailed data.

I do not simply backup my card to my computer, I use both ResMed's ResScan and Sleepyhead software to offload card data and store all the data on my computer (which itself is backed up to an external drive with professional grade backup software). You might even consider burning the data into a CD or DVD for a secondary backup.

You need to lock your card against data corruption when inserting into your computer and then unlock it before replacing it back into your machine.

Since 2008, I have only had one data card corrupted and one that was accidently formatted by my computer.
