Exclaimation Godaddy sites all DOWN... DNS issues [Sept 10, 2012]
So far this hasn't affected ApneaBoard.com but it appears as through Godaddy's DNS (Domain Name Service) servers have been hacked and taken down worldwide by someone associated with the hacker group known as "Anonymous".

ApneaBoard's registrar is Godaddy, but our hosting provider is not associated with Godaddy, so perhaps that's why we're okay so far.

I would ask our Apnea Board Monitors to help in policing the forum as I'm not sure if all staff members will be able to have access to the forum if the outage continues with further DNS issues.

Article here on the issue:

Quote:GoDaddy Outage Takes Down Millions Of Sites, Anonymous Member Claims Responsibility

According to many customers, sites hosted by major web host and domain registrar GoDaddy are down. According to the official GoDaddy Twitter account the company is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. Update: customers are complaining that GoDaddy hosted e-mail accounts are down as well, along with GoDaddy phone service and all sites using GoDaddy’s DNS service.

Update 2: Anonymous is claiming responsibility. A member of Anonymous known as AnonymousOwn3r is claiming responsibility, and makes it clear this is not an Anonymous collective action.

I’ve been adding more information below as details emerge.

A tipster tells us that the technical reason for the failure is being caused by the inaccessibility of GoDaddy’s DNS servers — specifically CNS1.SECURESERVER.NET, CNS2.SECURESERVER.NET, and CNS3.SECURESERVER.NET are failing to resolve.

AnonymousOwn3r’s bio reads “Security leader of #Anonymous (~Official member~).” The individual claims to be from Brazil, and hasn’t issued a statement as to why GoDaddy was targeted.

Last year GoDaddy was pressured into opposing SOPA as customers transferred domains off the service, and the company has been the center of a few other controversies. However, AnonymousOwn3r has tweeted “I’m not anti go daddy, you guys will undestand because i did this attack.”

Fortunately, we created our own apneaboard.com nameservers on Godaddy, and it appears that these (thus far) have been unaffected.

That explains why I haven't been able to access two of the other forums today.

Looks like a lot of Goddaddy's sites are coming back online, at least for now...

Moving this Thread to the Off-Topic Forum unless there's further issues...

Thanks

This is scary! I checked out an IP address & user name today but that person didn't show up on the spammer list. Hackers are another breed.

This might explain why I haven't received any e-mail notices of new posts today.
I figured it out this afternoon; My screen reader said one thing and my curser was somewhere else. In other wordsk somehow I managed to unsubscribe myself from the main apnea board forum. I got it straightened out, (Ha-Ha-Ha.) Oh well, that's the way it goes, (Ha-Ha.)

RE: Godaddy sites all DOWN... DNS issues
I visit the forum a LOT during the day and at night. I noticed some issues with some really really really slow loading pages. I figured it was SS doing some backup or something another. Except it lasted much longer than usual.

Other than that, the forum was up each time I visited.

RE: Godaddy sites all DOWN... DNS issues
I was just trying to help someone with something and did a Google search. Several of the search results were to other sleep apnea sites. All three were down. Two just sat there and never came up. One kept giving me a SQL error.

But, WE are still up. We're cool.
