Good AHI but up for hours not sleeping while using CPAP so is this accurate need help

I want to sleep as I am sure everyone wants as well and I fall asleep usually pretty fast however once I wake to go on a bathroom break I come back to bed and restart my cpap and yet many hours go by and I can not fall asleep. Is there any health benefit to using a cpap when your not sleeping? I want to fall back asleep just can't and this happens a lot. Any recommendations I attached my chart which I am extremely happy with the numbers but not the tiredness and not sleeping. So I wonder if the numbers are real since I am awake for hours.

Thank You

You are not alone, and a light intermittent sleep for the later parts of the night seems common. Most of us strive for monophasic sleep where we go to bed and stay asleep for 6 to 8 hours. Some people experience biphasic sleep and will sleep 4-6 hours and then simply be awake. They may need a shorter nap at another time. "Normal sleep" may not exist, and your sleep habits can vary through life. Younger individuals tend to have their sleep schedule dictated by work schedules and even shift work. On the other hand, it's common for people to go to sleep earlier and awaken more as they age or following retirement. Lots of articles on the internet deal with this.

On the left side of the screen, scroll down to view the Session Information. Click the green button to "turn off" any session where you know you were awake. This will give a more accurate AHI since that is figured using time as well as events.

No, there's no benefits to using it while awake other than to get yourself used to the process.

OSCAR needs a full 60 seconds between sessions before it sees them as two sessions. When I am laying in bed, trying to sleep, when I think I am close, I reach over and turn off the machine, count to 70, then turn it back on. This way I can remove that useless data.

If I know I’m awake and not going back to sleep I’ll turn it off and take off my mask until I’m feeling tired again then I’ll put it back on. Cpap does nothing while you’re awake since your throat isn’t likely relaxed enough to fall back. All the events flagged aren’t actual events. Back when I wore a pillows mask I would get a lot of obstructives flagged while I was talking. With a full face you can talk just don’t hold your breath or it will get flagged.

Sleeprider thank you for sharing the articles I read all of them.

I would turn off the cpap if I knew I wasn't going to fall back asleep but I am tired and want to sleep just can't drift back to sleep. Its not for not trying as I don't just want to lay there with the cpap running but I dont want to sleep without my cpap either

I was just reading another thread about the same issue and will probably try Bach flower essences or see about Trazodone
