GoodKnight unit ramps down, "drops out of warp"

GoodKnight unit ramps down, "drops out of warp"
Hello friends -

I'm using an older GoodKnight 425 bipap. Suddenly, every 20 minutes, it ramps down and the stream of air is weakened. Sort of like the opposite of the ramp up feature, only it isn't gradual - the unit suddenly drops our of warp. I can turn it off and back on again and it corrects the issue for about 20 minutes then the cycle starts all over. Needless to say, it's a little jarring. Anyone know if this is a setting and/or how to correct it?

Thanks!

That sounds like its time for a new machine. I'd guess the blower motor/bearings are shot. Maybe once it gets up to a certain temperature, it just shuts down?

Warp core damaged by Klingons?

The GoodKnight 425 is obsolete; and received less than *stellar* reviews.
Best option seems to be to replace with a current generation machine.

Hi jpap,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
Unfortunately, it sounds like you need a new machine. That's an old Puritan Bennett machine.
the company is a french company called Sefam Medical that bought them out several years ago, I don't know much else about them other than that.
Hang in there for more responses to your posts and I wish you good luck in finding a machine.

Concur with the earlier comments. Time for a new machine.

Sorry about your Goodknight 425, I think it's a goner and there isn't much support left for those machines. I've had three of them. Bought the first one to use for travel. The last was bought as old, new stock without warranty from a DME and sacrificed for parts after it threw error codes the second time it powered up. It did manage to supply a motor controller card and a few other parts but in the end it was futile. From discussions with the DME's tech, the failure rate on the GK425s they sold was so high and so early in service life, if yours is more than a few years old you have an exception.

Welcome to the forum jpap! Glad you found us.

You might want to take a look at the Supplier List above. Click on the link. Check out each one for the best deal. Sometimes certain ones have awesome sales. Supplier #2 sells new and gently used machines at a good price. JMHO but you might want to stick with a big name brand like ResMed or Phillips Respironics, or Fisher & Paykel.

Good luck to you and keep us posted!
