Great AHI....for somewone else
#11
If they are a UARS patient, that 1-2 AHI range could still be a significant number rest disruptions per hour...which might not make them feel any better.

My former DME  liked having my AHI less than 5 and high percentage of >4 hrs/night (for compliance / insurance)...an AHI of 4.9 was "great" to them even though my UARS had a ~10x rest disruption to AHI ratio. For me, that "4.9 is great" meant ~49 events per hour (just not long enough to be recorded as apnea events).  I suspect if I had left things up to them, I'd be a statistic of used CPAP for a while then gave it up.

Instead, I found this place, learned more about my condition and took control of my therapy to minimize my events per hour. My average AHI is now in the 0.1-0.2 range (which for some people would be something to write home about) which puts my rest disruption index in the ~1-2 range (pretty decent). I know I certainly feel better because of it.

I would guess that the person who had that machine didn't get to the point of being really comfortable with the machine and having well optimized therapy for them...just one more to add to the statistics as a result.
