Leslie, I use a cervical collar to prevent leaks and it works well for me. Usually the standard, generic collar at multiple line "drug" stores has a 3" deep notch at the chin. I was OK with that measurement but it came up too high under my ears (Carex brand). I paid a little more ($12) at a regular drug store in our small town and got a 2.5 inch notch and the sides are much narrower--made by Bell-Horn. It is softer--it had to snug it up a little tighter to provide the support but it sure is more comfortable.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
