HELP - Picking a Cheap CPAP to start with!
So I took a "take home" test from a local Sleep office. They said I had medium sleep apnea and should get a CPAP machine. My insurance won't cover any of it till I spend my $2000 deductible so that doesn't help. I am shopping around trying to find something I can get for a few hundred bucks - full setup. I don't want to spend a fortune in case I turn out not using it - I heard 50% of people quit.

Today I found these NEW machines that seemed affordable (free shipping). I heard that the face mask will be around $100 more.

Any of these jump out as good ones?

$199 -- apex-xt-fit-cpap-machine

$204 - curative-curasa-cpap-machine-eut-data

$229 - 3b-resmart-cpap-reslex

$319 - 3b-luna-cpap-heated-humidifier
(this one is a litle too much)

I couldn't recommend any of those machines. Here is a link that will help you with possible machines to choose or avoid.

The important thing here is if you are self paying, and I underatand high deductibles,
then be sure to get the best value for your dollars. I wouldn't get anything less than a data capable auto machine.

Check the Supplier list at top of this page. Supplier #2 has a good reputation and sells gently used and also new open box cpap's

My budget it about $400 including the mask and machine.

I went and looked at all the ones you suggest at that link - they are like $500, $600, $800, sometimes over $1000.

We don't have that kind of money in our budget - we struggle to make our bills and mortgage payments.

Need a cheap option.

Have you checked craigslist? YMMV but I have see some there.
PS. most people give up because they either don't really think they have a problem or they don't adjust their therapy to get comfortable with it. IMHO
If you are looking to get a machine and slap it on your face and it will all work like it's not there, well very few do that without some to lots of tweaking.

It would be hard to get new in that price range, but check around.
Supplier #2 should have good machines in that range.
I know some buy from Craig's list, but I say "buyer beware." Take time to shop wisely.

I just purchased a 'gently used' S9 AutoSet machine from Supplier #2 for less than $400. You may want to check their website again as their supply changes. My used machine works so much better than my old one, I am happy with my purchase so far.

series M is an older machine, and you will have issues with self-titration because of lack of data... the Dreamstation, if it is not the base CPAP model is a brand new model and a better choice.
