maybe Xarelto is messing up your blood viscosity.

have you used warfarin before going on xarelto? did you have these issues then?

I already mentioned xarelto as the possible culprit, but you keep ignoring it apparently. Your doctor probably 'reassured' you its a good drug, just like thousands of other doctors 'reassured' their tens of thousands of patients before they died of bleeding. I won't speak of this again, in case it bothers you.

I don't know anything about the blood complications and other issues being faced by Myron.   -  Re the AFIB monitor used on the back of Iphones, my friend had/has one of the best Afib Doctors in the Country (U.S.) and he had him using that monitor. I'm sure it must have served some beneficial purpose.  - - Since then, my friend had the aFib surgery and I guess the afib is behind him now.

It could very well be due to the other complications Myron is facing that the surgery may not be an option... ???   Hopefully by now, Myron has had the chance to talk with his doctors to get an idea about what's going on... I sure hope so!

Actually I have not heard anything from my doctors yet. My cardiologist assistant said to go through my electrophysiologist to ask about a monitor and next steps. The electrophysiologist got my message but has yet to reply or call me. I think they probably think it's no concern since I'm on beta blockers and blood thinners. Or maybe they think that rate changes were normal looking.

Myron-

Well, it's great that you already reached out to your doctors.  At the very least, your electrophysiologist or his/her assistant should be back in touch with you if not the same day, within 24 hours.  Unfortunately, the "squeaky wheel gets the oil" plays out all too often in healthcare.   Even if they think your rate changes "look normal" they should be communicating that conclusion with you.   I'd be bugging them by phone until I got the communication or whatever that is required.  Perhaps ask for a manager/supervisor.  I've done that with Kaiser Hospital before, and things really moved fast once I did!

Good luck getting this all figured out!!!

I have never seen this during the day, and my fitness watch continously records my HR, and it never shows these fluctuations. My doctor did diagnose me with "Inappropriate sinus tachycardia", where sometimes my HR will be much higher for no reason. This is partially what you see here in the charts. My average HR that night was much higher, in the 70's-80's. And at one point it hit 110bpm. I'm usually in 60's.

Indeed, and I can only guess.  Two possibilities I can think of, but there may/must be others: stress during dreaming (secretion of epinephrine by the adrenal glands), or oxygen starvation if your breathing becomes severely labored or disrupted during REM, in which case the same thing happens...adrenaline secretion.

My doctor is going to order a two week heart monitor. This will be probably 4th or 5th one I've had in a year. They never find anything. These symptoms come and go. He thinks it is sleep related issue. My SpO2 seems normal and didn't drop. So not sure why my heart rate went crazy.

You may be right regarding the epinphrine adrenal gland. But regarding my oxygen SpO2, it remained fairly consistent. I always see my SpO2 flucuate wildly when I'm probably in REM sleep. But never saw my HR go crazy like that. So my doctor called to order a 2-week heart monitor. But he also stated that seemed to be a "sleep issue" and not a heart issue.

If I was having labored breathing, would it show up like this? I do occassionally take a deeper breath every 10min-20min, but that is normal for me. I always did that. I do that during the day as well. I catch myself at work, sometimes holding breath and not breathing when concentrating on something.

idk, but if that's labored breathing (I don't think it is but I'm just another layman cpaper), I have it too. I have a number of those spikes a night, which I associate with a sigh or a kind of involuntary yawn, and I get plenty of flow restricted breaths. to me, the flow rate waveform you posted looks pretty darn good.

Just an update...I had a 2-week holter monitor and Echo Stress test which was both normal. NO afib occurred. Doctor cleared me to continue on and go back to the gym and exercise and do whatever. In my sleep though, I still notice these unusual HR spikes, but the doctor doesn't seem concerned about them. These spikes occur when I have no apneas. Does anyone else see these types of spikes during sleep?

That chart looks like mine when I'm in AFIB at night. PulseOx's sample much more than a pulse watch which is why you have all those peaks. I think it's AFIB... My pulse watch also gives a raised noise floor when I'm in afib. Really evident at night when sleeping. I mostly get it at night. If you are healthy and BMI less than 25, you probably don't have any metabolic disorder issues so the Multaq (like me) is working too good because your liver is metabolizing all of it. At least that's my problem with it. You should make sure you see a physiological cardiologist. The guy I have is great, a specialist of electrical signals. The Kardia I have is good for confirming what I usually already feel, that I'm in AFIB.

Look into the studies about AFIB, weight loss, exersize, and metabolic disorder. Also, look up alcohol interaction with AFIB if you drink. If you haven't read any of the studies, you might find some interesting information.

Good luck.

And another thought...

What about a bad connection to the sensor? You should probably rule that out.

That's been ruled out. I bought the new Contec CMS50F with the improved finger sensor, and still got this same fluctuations.
