Put cold (not iced!!) water in the machine. Turn humidifier up all the way. Let it run. Hose should get warm.

I suppose you could put an Ohm meter on the contacts. I'm not sure what they should read; but the common to heater element should be fairly low resistance. Then, there is a humidity sensor. I'm sure somebody has done this exercise.

Someone tried it on a ResMed S9 hose about a year ago:

That machine is a 24 Volt machine. He got 5 Ohms on the heater contacts. The heater is probably pulse-width modulated.

I use a fleece hose cover on mine. It makes the hose much softer to the touch at night, but it also retains the warmth, and you can feel it through the cover.

Thanks for your reply. I did like you said, cold water, hum on 5 and the hose did get warm within 1-2 minutes.

Mine works

Thanks again for all the responses

I wanted to buy a cover, but was warned off it due to increased fire risk. Is this something you don't worry about? I guess if you really get down to it, there is a certain fire risk that is inherent to life in any modern house. I'm probably just overly cautious. Smile

RE: Heated hose check
I have used covers on heated hoses since 2008. The hoses do not get hot enough to be a fire-risk. My original heated hose was that Aussie heated hose, and it never shut down since it had its own power supply. I have used both Philips and Resmed hoses with covers. It's great because you can actually lay on the hose, or your face is in contact with it, and it's soft and warm, instead of a corrugated plastic snake.
